Parking Lot Expectations:

Just a friendly reminder from our administration that nobody without an assigned parking spot is to park in the parking lot. We had a staff member whose vehicle was keyed this week. This space is off limits to anyone without an assigned spot. No drop off, or pick up is permitted for parents, guardians, or drivers.

Classroom Blogs: Important Updates and Dates

All communication regarding classroom updates, important dates, and upcoming events will be posted on your child’s classroom blog. Classroom blogs will be updated every two weeks so families can stay informed about what is happening in the classroom.

How to Access the Grade Team Blogs

You can access the Grade Team Blogs by clicking here

You can also find them through the Woodbine CBE website:

  1. Go to the Teaching and Learning tab.
  2. Select Teacher Pages and Blogs.
  3. Across the top of the page, you will see a banner with links to each grade team.
  4. Select your child’s grade to access their classroom blog.

We encourage families to check the classroom blog regularly for the latest updates, information, and important dates.

Action required | Complete Online Forms by Sept 14

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online.

If you have already completed your annual forms, you can disregard this email.

In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

• Demographic Verification - 2026-27 – This required form is an Alberta Education and Childcare requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

• Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 – This form becomes available and is required to complete if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

• Annual Authorization - 2026-27 – Combines the following forms:

o School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.

o Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.

o Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
o Consent for Student Participation in Annual CBE Surveys – these surveys support school and system planning and help improve programs and supports offered to students
o Parental Opt-In for Notifiable curriculum for students in grades 3 to 9 – written consent of parents prior to providing instructions or materials that deal primarily and explicitly with human sexuality, gender identity or sexual orientation. Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is granted.

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account used to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, click Create a MyCBE Account on the MyCBE page. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1. sign in to your MyCBE account

2. click on the SchoolEngage icon

3. select the form

4. complete or review and update the form

5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school

6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sept 14.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education and Childcare to confirm student funding.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.  We thank you for completing the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for the 2026-27 school year.

School Bus Transportation

As the school year begins, families are encouraged to review the Transportation Family Checklist and have a back-up plan for if your bus is delayed.

Lunch Supervision

Registration is now open for Lunch Supervision for students in kindergarten to Grade 6 who remain at the school during the lunch hour. Families are encouraged to register as through MyCBE.

Central Fee Waivers

If your family needs support with school fees, Central Fee Waiver applications for the 2026–2027 school year are now open. Applications are available through MyCBE and must be submitted by June 30, 2027. Visit the CBE website to learn more about eligibility and application requirements.

Central Fee Waiver

Unpaid Student Fees

All outstanding balances for the 2025–2026 school year should be paid as soon as possible through your MyCBE account. Unpaid balances may be subject to CBE’s collection procedures. Please refer to Administrative Regulation 7005: School Fees for further information regarding outstanding balances and the collection process.

Shoes at Recess

We are asking parents to please reinforce with students that all students are expected to keep their shoes on while outside at recess.

We have noticed a new trend of students taking their shoes off to play soccer or because they prefer playing on the playground without shoes. While we understand the appeal, there are safety concerns associated with students being barefoot outside, including the potential for injuries from playground equipment, rocks, sticks, and other hazards.

Please remind your child that shoes need to stay on for the entirety of recess and other outdoor play times. We appreciate your help in reinforcing this expectation at home.

Healthy Hunger

We are pleased to continue offering Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches for Grade 1-6 students.

Our first special lunch of the school year will be held on September 16. All orders must be placed by midnight 5 days prior.

Ordering and payment are completed through the Healthy Hunger website.

How it works:

  • Log in to Healthy Hunger
  • Create a profile for your student(s) by selecting "Add Student" and entering their details, school name, and teacher.
  • If your student(s) already have a profile, please update their classroom/teacher information for the new school year.
  • Place your orders and pay online. Families may place orders for the entire school year at one time if desired.
  • Orders close five days before each lunch date, so please ensure your order is submitted before the deadline.
