Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences are a great time for you to come into the classroom and view your child’s learning and progress. For Grade 1 – 6, you do not need to book in a time, just show up with your child and expect to spend 15-30 minutes in their classroom.
Conferences are on Thursday, March 19th, 5 PM to 8 PM and Friday March 20th, 8 AM to 12 PM.
If your child is in Kindergarten, Ms. Harper will be e-mailing a link to sign up for conferences on either Thursday or Friday. This is to ensure physical space for all families to be able to explore their child’s learning in the classroom.
Reminder that this is not the time to discuss concerns about your child with the teacher but an opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning.
Cultural Fair
We are excited to invite you to our second annual Cultural Night on the evening of March 19th, taking place during Student-Led Conferences.
This special event celebrates the rich diversity of our Woodbine community and provides families with the opportunity to share their heritage through food, traditional attire, performances, art, music, and cultural displays. It is always a meaningful evening of connection, learning, and celebration for our students and families.
We are currently looking for families who would like to host a cultural booth representing a country or region that is meaningful to them. If you are interested in participating, see the email that was sent from Ms. Rosenbaum that had an attached letter for details and return the form (or email your information) to Ms. Rosenbaum by Friday, March 6, 2026.
We look forward to coming together to celebrate the vibrant cultures that make our school community so special.

This year, we will honour Remembrance Day with an in-school gathering and classroom reflections. Given our recent return to school, we want to keep the day meaningful yet manageable for students and staff.
As we reflect on those who served and sacrificed for peace, we will also connect this to our school theme of “We All Belong.” Together, we’ll consider how belonging, kindness, and understanding help build the peaceful communities that so many have fought to protect.
Students will receive a poppy to wear on November 7. Veteran poppy donation boxes are available in the school office for anyone wishing to contribute to the Royal Canadian Legion in support of veterans and their families.
Stay tuned for next week’s Woodbine Weekly, where we’ll share conversation starters and reflection prompts families can use to continue the discussion at home.

ELAL:
The grade fives are reading Fatty Legs, a moving memoir of an Inuit girl who emerges from a residential school with her spirit intact. Students are summarizing, discussing with peers and responding to questions with thoughtful reflection.
Science:
We practiced our observation skills and used the Scientific Method to conduct experiments related to the Properties of Matter. We had so much fun making Oobleck (cornstarch mud) and exploring non-Newtonian fluids!
Non-Newtonian Fluid Definition-
A non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity, that is, it has variable viscosity dependent on stress. In particular, the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids can change when subjected to force.
Social Studies:
Students are colouring and labelling their own independent/partner map of an island or world with a title, key/legend and a compass. Students will have an opportunity to have a gallery walk to see each other's maps.

Pourquoi le français? We discussed why we are learning French and brainstormed many French words together. We are reviewing counting to 21 by singing 21 Amis.
