Alien Inline Forms  

Please return Alien Inline forms by Friday, October 2.  A huge thank you to School Council for sponsoring them at our school again this year. Please check the schedule in the handout to find out when your child is participating so that they dress appropriately (wear socks). 

Orange Shirt Day  

Orange Shirt Day at Woodbine will be on Tuesday, September 29.  Students will engage in learning opportunities leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day on September 30, 2026. 

Wearing orange on Orange Shirt Day honours Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and acknowledges the lasting impacts of residential schools on families and communities. The orange shirt is a symbol of the culture, language, identity, and freedom that were taken from Indigenous children, and a reminder that Every Child Matters. 
 

Woodbine School is committed to reconciliation. We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action. On June 21, we renewed our commitment.

The Parent Association’s 18th charity casino fundraiser - Oct 24-25

CBE Student Code of Conduct and Progressive Student Discipline 

As we begin the school year, we would like to remind families that the CBE Student Code of Conduct and Progressive Student Discipline regulations apply to all students at Woodbine.  These guidelines help us create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels welcomed and supported. 

The Code of Conduct outlines roles and expectations we have for students and helps them develop empathy, responsibility, and the skills needed to be positive members of our school and broader community.  When behaviors negatively impact the learning environment, the Progressive Student Discipline regulation provides a framework for responding in a fair and supportive manner.  

We use Dare to Care lessons and our Woodbine Student Code of conduct to support students with these messages in a child-friendly manner.  

We appreciate our families partnering with us in helping students understand these expectations and contribute to a positive school community.

Dare to Care Lessons  

Welcome to Dare to Care's Parent Module on Bullying Prevention! 

Woodbine will be using this program with all students this year.  

As a parent of Woodbine School, you have access to Dare to Care's Parent Bullying Prevention module until June 30/27. 

Steps to Accessing the Dare to Care Parent Module:  

• Click on this link:https://daretocare.learnworlds.com 
• Click Sign in/Sign up in the upper right hand corner 
• Click on Create an Account in red at the bottom left (enter your name, school name and email) . Fill out all requested information Including the addition of this code: CBEWood26PAR 
• Your courses will not appear immediately, please allow 24 hours for Dare to Care to confirm your account. Once confirmed, your courses will appear in the My Courses menu section. (You may need to refresh your course page to view it). 

Transportation Registration: Confirmation & Cancellation 

Families registered for yellow school bus received confirmation emails the week of September 22. 

No action is required for families that will be using the bus service for the school year. 

Families who no longer require the bus service can cancel their registration in MyCBE by Wednesday, Sept 30 with no financial impact. After this date, fees will continue to be charged until a cancellation is received, regardless of actual usage. Retro-active fee refunds will not be provided. 

Transportation fees will be loaded into MyCBE later in October. 

Friendly Reminder: Snacks and Cutlery 

As our students stay active throughout the school day, we have noticed a few common needs across our grade levels and would greatly appreciate your help at home: 

Mid-Day Snacks

Grades 1–3: Our younger students eat lunch early (11:50 AM–12:10 PM) and often need an additional mid-afternoon snack to keep their energy up until dismissal. 

Grades 4–6: Our older, growing students are working up big appetites and frequently visit the main office looking for extra food. 

Please consider sending your child with extra healthy snacks each day. While the office keeps a limited supply of snacks on hand, these are strictly reserved for students facing food insecurity at home. 

Reusable Utensils

We have noticed an increase in students bringing lunches that require a spoon or fork without packed utensils. Our emergency supply of wooden cutlery is very limited, so please remember to pack the appropriate utensils with your child’s lunch each day.

Healthy Hunger (Grades 1-6)

A portion of all proceeds from Healthy Hunger are donated back to the school and used to support school wide initiatives.  

Ordering and payment are completed through the Healthy Hunger website.

How it works: 

• Log in to Healthy Hunger 
• Create a profile for your student(s) by selecting "Add Student" and entering their details, school name, and teacher. 
• If your student(s) already have a profile, please update their classroom/teacher information for the new school year. 
• Place your orders and pay online. Families may place orders for the entire school year at one time if desired. 
• Orders close five days before each lunch date, so please ensure your order is submitted before the deadline.
