Save the Date! Meet the Teacher Night Wednesday, September 24 | 5:00–8:00 pm We’re looking forward to welcoming families into the school for Meet the Teacher Night! Come by the classroom, meet your child’s teacher, connect with other families, and take a look at the space where your child spends their days learning and growing. Please be advised that this is an open house and not a one-on-one conference to discuss specific student needs. It’s a chance to see the classroom through your child’s eyes and get a little glimpse into their school day. Smartwatches – CBE 'Away for the Day' Policy As part of the Calgary Board of Education's 'Away for the Day' guidelines for all K to 9 schools, personal mobile devices are to be stored away during the school day for students. These guidelines align with Alberta Education's Ministerial Order regarding the use of personal mobile devices and social media in schools. Personal mobile devices – including cellphones, smartwatches, tablets, gaming devices, headphones and earbuds – should be powered off or set to silent mode and stored out of sight in a student's backpack for the entire school day (9:06 am – 3:40 pm). Students are also not permitted to access social media applications on CBE-owned devices or personal devices. We ask parents to refrain from contacting their child directly on their personal device during the school day. If you need to reach your child, please contact the school office and we will be happy to facilitate communication. Students who choose to bring personal mobile devices to school do so at their own risk, as the CBE cannot assume responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen devices. Thank you for your support in creating a focused, safe, and engaging learning environment for all students.

Terry Fox Run on Friday Sept 18 at 12 pm Our Terry Fox Run will be on Friday, September 18 at 12 pm. You are welcome to come join us outside to encourage the students during their run. If you'd like to donate to the foundation, https://schools.terryfox.ca/136092
Please submit a Student Health Plan Form to the school office if:
If neither of these situations applies to your child, you do not need to return the form. Important Reminders for School Medication:
Dress for the Weather As we settle into the school year, Mother Nature has decided to give us some early Fall wet and windy weather! At Woodbine, we believe that getting outside provides children with important opportunities to move their bodies, play creatively, build friendships, and enjoy a break from the classroom. A little rain does not have to stop the fun! In fact, puddles, mud, and rainy-day adventures can create some of the best opportunities for exploration and imaginative play. To help your child enjoy outdoor time comfortably, we encourage families to send children to school prepared for changing and wet weather conditions. Some helpful items to consider include:
Please label clothing and footwear with your child's name whenever possible. Having an extra set of clothing at school can also be very helpful throughout the year. We recognize that preparing for Alberta's ever-changing weather takes a little extra planning, and we truly appreciate your support. When children are dressed appropriately, they can spend less time worrying about being wet or cold and more time playing, exploring, laughing, and enjoying being children. We review weather conditions on an ongoing basis and there may be occasions where we decide, for safety reasons, to hold an indoor recess/lunch hour.
Volunteering We welcome volunteers at our school! If you are a new volunteer - welcome! Our office staff is working diligently on processing new applications as quickly as possible, but we wanted to let you know school start up means this process may take a bit longer. Please click on the link below for more information on the process.
Action required | Complete Online Forms by Sept 14 |
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. All forms are due by Monday, September 14 – thank you.
