At this time, the CBE is preparing for an Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) strike beginning on Monday, Oct. 6. Here is what this means for CBE families:

§  All classes will be cancelled. Do not send your child to school.

§  Transportation will be cancelled. Do not leave your child at a bus stop.

School Athletics, Trips and Extracurricular Activities:

All school athletics, trips and extracurricular activities will be suspended or cancelled. Depending on the length of the strike, some events may be rescheduled.

New ! Access to Online CBE applications:
A decision was made Oct. 3 that students will have access to D2L and Google classroom throughout labour action. Teachers will not be monitoring, responding to or assessing student work during the strike.

Before and After School Care:
Most childcare facilities located in CBE schools will continue to operate. Please contact your childcare provider for more information.

System updates for families will be posted here.

Annual Online Forms:
Thank you to those who have completed the online demographic forms for their children. These forms are a legal requirement from Alberta Education for funding purposes. If forms remain incomplete, it may result in a reduction in funding for the Calgary Board of Education and Woodbine School. Please ensure that you have logged into your child’s MyCBE account to complete the forms for this school year. Thank you for your cooperation.

Brown Bagging for Schools:

If your child received a Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids (BB4CK) school lunch, we wanted to make you aware that during a strike or lockout, BB4CK will be continuing to provide lunches to kids who need them via a lunch-pickup model at designated sites in Calgary.

As this is an evolving situation, they will be keeping this webpage updated with further details and with the locations at which families will be able to access BB4CK lunches.

On behalf of all the staff at Woodbine School, we look forward to being together again as a learning community,

Sincerely,

Jeff Hutton and Cheryl Rosenbaum
