Woodbine Weekly – Oct 26-30

Thank you, Thank you!

A huge shout out to our school council.  These past couple of weeks I was brought back in time to birthday parties at the roller rink, seeing all the student's rollerblading around the gym with disco lights and music. Thank you, School Council, for funding Alien In-Line through our Casino fundraising.

I wanted to also thank Jessica Stoy, the School Council, and our parent community for putting on the Halloween Dance, which is big undertaking and so much fun for the kids.

Grade 1 – 5 Literacy and Numeracy Student Screener Reports

Halloween Dress Up

Halloween will continue to be a day of learning at Woodbine School. Students are welcome to wear their costumes – we encourage students to wear their costumes over their regular clothes or bring a change of clothes if they become uncomfortable or find that it interferes with activities like PE or outdoor play. The guidelines for costumes are:

·         No weapons

·         No masks – faces must be visible

·         No fake blood/gore with Halloween makeup

·         All costumes should be culturally sensitive

·         Wear at your own risk – the school is not responsible for lost costume pieces or any damage to costumes

·         Remind your child to bring their costume and accessories home at the end of the day

Please do not send candy or treats to school with your child, as several students have food allergies. Thank you for understanding.

Remembrance Day

Preparations are underway for our school’s Remembrance Day ceremony. Students have been working hard to prepare their musical contributions as we reflect on the importance of remembering those who have served our country and the sacrifices they have made. We look forward to sharing this meaningful ceremony with our school community.
