Parking Lot and Bus Zone Restrictions
At Woodbine School, the safety of our students, families, and staff is our absolute top priority. We are writing today to address a serious safety concern regarding traffic and parking during drop-off and pick-up times.
Today, we experienced a near-miss incident in our staff parking lot. This was a direct result of vehicles entering areas that are strictly off-limits to parent traffic. To ensure this does not happen again, please note the following rules:
- Staff Parking Lot: This lot is strictly for staff members only. Our staff comes and goes at various times throughout the day, and this area is not to be used for student drop-off or pick-up at any time.
- Bus Zone: This zone is reserved entirely for our school buses, CSSI student transport, daycare buses, and our community partnership organizations. These vehicles require dedicated access to safely transport students, and parents are not permitted to park or drop off children in the bus zone.
We love our school community and want to ensure every student arrives and leaves safely each day. Thank you for your immediate cooperation and for helping us keep our parking lot safe.
Student Medication held at the School Office
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to ensure the safe and secure return of all student medications currently held in the school office.
Our standard procedure is to send remaining medication home with students on Friday, June 26, sealed in an envelope.
Alternative Collection Option: If you prefer that your child's medication not be transported in their backpack, we completely understand and we ask that an adult collects it directly from the office instead on the morning of Friday June 26.
If you would prefer to pick up the medication yourself, please notify the School Office on Monday, June 22. We will securely hold the medication for an adult to collect.
Reporting and Assessment
Report Cards for your child will be viewable on your MyCbe account Thursday, June 25. If your child is on an IPP that will be sent out on Monday, June 22 and signature pages will be required to be collected by the end of the week. Any questions about assessment and how to understand the report card see here, https://cbe.ab.ca/programs/curriculum/assessment-and-reporting/Pages/default.aspx

Registration Open for Grade 6 students transitioning to Junior High - My Transit Ride
In August, the CBE and Calgary Transit will offer a transit bus orientation program called "My Transit Ride" for junior high and high school students transitioning to Calgary Transit.
The program is about an hour long and consists of a 20-minute presentation by Calgary Transit, followed by an orientation of a transit bus. Staff from CBE Transportation and Calgary Transit will be available for information and/or questions.
Sessions are free but families are encouraged to register to attend. Registration opened on Monday, May 25.
We are excited to offer this safety training and transit orientation to increase student comfort levels and ability to ride Calgary Transit safely and efficiently.

School Council/Parent Association
Did you know? Many of the experiences and opportunities students enjoy at Woodbine are made possible through School Council/Parent Association. Through Casinos, volunteering, and family support, they facilitate meaningful experiences that benefit students across our school. Follow along with our #BecauseOfSchoolCouncil campaign on Instagram (@woodbinecbe) as we highlight just some of the ways their impact is felt.
#BecauseOfSchoolCouncil: We extend our sincere gratitude to the School Council for their generous support of our school residencies. Without their funding and dedication, our recent Opera residency would not have been possible.
Woodcreek Tree Planting Event

🍕 Can you help keep our Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches going?
Our students absolutely love our monthly Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches, and it serves as a fantastic fundraiser for our school!
To keep this wonderful program running, we are looking for a volunteer to step into the role of Fun Lunch Coordinator. Without someone to coordinate these lunches, we unfortunately won't be able to continue them.
What does it look like? It only takes a few hours each month, and it’s a great way to get involved with the school community.
If you can spare a little time to help us keep our students smiling (and well-fed!), please reach out to the school office. We would love to have you on board!
