School Absences

A reminder that teachers are not required to provide work for students who are not attending school as our priority in-person learning.  When students return from a trip, we will catch them up when they are at school.

Please remember that if your trip is more than 10 school days an extended absence form will need to be filled out.  You can get a copy in the office.

Ensuring Timely Communication for Students

If there is an urgent message that needs to reach your child during the school day, please direct all time-sensitive updates or student messages to the main office rather emailing our teaching staff. Our teachers are focused on instruction and may not be able to check their email until after dismissal.

For a guaranteed response, please contact:

Student Sign-Out Procedures

To ensure a smooth and timely pickup, please call the office 15 minutes prior to your arrival. This allows us sufficient time to locate your child and have them ready for you.

Please keep in mind that students may be in the gym, the library, or outdoors for recess, making them difficult to reach instantly. We appreciate your patience and co-operation in helping us get your student to you on time!

Opera Committee

As our school-wide, year-long Let’s Create an Opera residency gains momentum, we are inviting parents to join a volunteer committee. We are looking for a small group of parents who may be interested in helping with costume preparation and other support as needs arise throughout the project. Your involvement would help make this exciting experience a success for our students. Please email Ms. Rose at csrosenbaum@cbe.ab.ca if you are interested!

Yearbook Cover Contest

We are excited to invite students to participate in our Yearbook Cover Design Contest!

If your child is interested in entering the contest, they are encouraged to create an original design for the front cover of this year’s school yearbook. All submissions are due by Monday, March 2nd.

Yearbook Cover Criteria:

Each design must include:

  • The yearbook title & school name
  • The school year
  • Representation of all our Den Group themes:
  • Red Fox
  • Yellow Eagle
  • White Deer
  • Black Bear

 Submission Details:

  • Artwork should be original and student-created
  • All submissions must be handed in to the school office
  • Please ensure the student’s name, grade, and homeroom are clearly written on the back of the submission

We look forward to seeing our students’ creativity and how they represent our Den community. Thank you for your continued support!

Outstanding Field Trip Fees

While fee notices are issued centrally three times a year, many school-level field trip fees remain outstanding. As the school pre-pays for these activities, prompt reimbursement is essential for us to continue offering these experiences.

Please sign in to your MyCBE to settle any overdue balances. Moving forward, we kindly ask that fees be paid in advance of the event date.  Thank you for your attention to this.

Any family needing a waiver is encouraged to apply to the City of Calgary Fair Entry Program to prove income for a CBE waiver, as well as access other benefits of the program. This is optional for families and the CBE will continue to accept other approved documents as proof of income.
