Scholastic Book Fair: Call for Volunteers

Don’t forget, our school is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from April 14-17.  Students will be viewing the fair on April 14 and 15.  Books will be available for purchase during the day of April 16 and 17.  Parents and students are welcome to shop during the evening of April 16 from 3:40 - 6:00 pm.  Cash, credit and debit are accepted.

The Scholastic Book Fair is a fantastic way to continue to give our students access to the books they want to read. We are so happy that our students can interact with the Fair at our school, and choose their next favourite book! All purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and education resources for our classrooms and school library.

If you have a valid CBE clearance and would like to volunteer, please check out our sign up genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054CADAB2AA4F8C07-55830727-book

Transportation Service & Bell Time Changes for 2025-26 School Year

For the 2025-26 school year, bell times:

Woodbine’s updated bell times for the 2025-2026 school year:

Class Hours:

9:06 AM - 3:40 PM

Early Dismissal 1:05 PM Friday

If your child is attending a different CBE school for the 2025-26 school year, please visit the website to find that school’s bell times.

Bell times were reviewed across the system to ensure students receive the required instructional hours while maintaining time for breaks like lunch and recess, transitions between classes and extracurricular opportunities.

Next year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus.

When changes are made to yellow bus transportation, it has an impact on bell times for schools. That’s because bell times are directly connected to transportation. Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, ensuring students get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.

To help support reliable transportation service, we are making a few other changes next year. With the growth in population in Calgary, we continue to work with our service providers and Calgary Transit to support our growing ridership. We are adjusting route scheduling to account for increased traffic so yellow school buses have a few more minutes to reach their destination. Finally, walk zones are being adjusted to align with provincial direction.

In early May, we will be sharing more information about eligibility for transportation, the walk zone at your child’s school and information on transportation registration.

Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for detailed information about the bell time changes.

We recognize these changes will mean adjustments to your family’s schedule. Our goal is to support you through these transitions.

Call for Experts

We’re excited to share that we’re planning a renovation of our Learning Commons/Library to create a modern, flexible, and inspiring space that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a love of learning.

To support this project and potential grant applications, we’re looking for a volunteer with experience in space planning, architecture, or interior design to help us develop a thoughtful and functional blueprint.

If you or someone you know is interested in contributing, please contact Jessica Coppens at jecoppens@cbe.ab.ca by April 30, 2025.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our school grow and thrive.
