School Update:

During Mr. Sprong’s leave, Mr. Hutton has been reconnecting with students, teachers, and families. He will be here to support Woodbine as Acting Principal until Mr. Sprong returns. However, for the week of September 22, Mr. Hutton has a previous commitment, as such Mr. Kris Reinhardt will be Acting Principal.

Let’s Create an Opera Residency:

Woodbine School is excited to announce that we are taking part in the Let’s Create an Opera (LCO) residency this year, thanks to the wonderful support of our School Council. This unique, year-long program will give students the chance to be creators. All students from K-6, will help write the story, shape the music, design elements, and, in the spring, perform in a full opera production!

We kicked things off with a captivating assembly on Tuesday this week, where students were introduced to opera in a fun and interactive way. The energy and enthusiasm in the gym set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable creative journey.

 Welcome Back BBQ:

Woodbine School is excited to invite all parents and families to our community gathering on Wednesday, September 25 from 5–7 p.m.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to:

·         Visit your child’s classroom

·         Meet their teacher

·         Connect with the Woodbine community

Food trucks will be on the back compound from 5–7 p.m. for families who would like to picnic and enjoy a meal together.

We look forward to seeing you there!

 IPP Meetings:

By now, you should have received an email from your child’s teacher inviting you to an IPP meeting on September 29. This is an opportunity to collaborate in building your child’s IPP goals for the year. Please reach out directly to your child’s teacher for more information and for availability.

Terry Fox Run:

On Wednesday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m., Woodbine students will take part in our annual Terry Fox Run. The afternoon will begin with a school-wide assembly, followed by the run. Parent volunteers are not required for this event, however, parents are warmly welcome to lace up and join the run alongside out students. Please let your child’s teacher know if you will be joining us.

Please use our dedicated fundraising link if you are able to make a donation https://schools.terryfox.ca/98208

Running Club:

The Woodbine Running Club fall session is starting next week! All students in grades 1-6 are invited to participate in this club. We will begin all our practices outside beside the playground at 8:30 am sharp, where we will conduct a warm up activity.

During this fall session of running club, Woodbine students will be competing with students from Nellie McClung School, Louis Riel School, Sam Livingston School, Jeannie Elliot School and Woodbine School. Students run according to their grade/gender group. We will require some parent volunteers to help us out with our meet at Woodbine School on October 8. If you are able to help out, please contact Tanis Munro at tmmunro@cbe.ab.ca

Each parent or guardian is responsible for providing transportation for their child to and from the meets. Students and parents are encouraged to be at the cross-country race school site by 4:00 pm. Races will begin at 4:15 pm.
