School Update

Meet the Teacher Grade 1-6: All parents are welcome to attend with their child to meet this year’s teachers! Given the drop-in format, we are not able to have detailed conversations compared to Parent/Teacher Interviews in November, but we appreciate the opportunity to meet you and build community! Parking is limited, so we encourage everyone to walk if the weather permits.  Please enter at the rear of the building near the playground.

Picture Day: Picture Day is scheduled for October 10 and Retake Day is November 6.  You don’t want to miss this chance for the first photograph of the school year!  We cannot accommodate any special requests for specific times for your child to have their photo taken – students will be called down to the gym, class by class, at a time that accommodates teacher schedules.

Student Annual Forms:  Deadline September 18 CBE annual form are awaiting your completion in your MyCBE account.  Please sign in, select Online Forms and complete the following:

·         Demographic Verification 2023-2024

·         Annual Authorization 2023-2024

·         Citizenship Information Update 2023-2024 (if applicable)

The completion of these forms is a requirement by Alberta Education and we appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Lunch Supervision Registration: If your student is staying at school during the lunch break they  MUST be registered for Lunch Supervision.  Please complete your registration via your MyCBE account.

** New ** Volunteer Process and associated fee: There will now be a cost involved to obtain a police clearance – this is no longer covered by the CBE.  Your security clearance, once obtained, is valid for five years and the cost is $21.25 ($15.00 for police clearance and 5.95+GST service fee) which is charged during the online ePIC application.

On  receipt of a completed annual volunteer form, and proof of your ID (government issued - must include picture ID) we will provide you with a letter for you to process your ePIC.   You have 180 days to complete the ePIC process.

Once your ePIC has been processed by Calgary Police Service they will send you a letter confirming the outcome of the registration.

You MUST bring a copy of this letter to the school office. On receipt we will update our records and you will be ready to volunteer at our school.

Volunteers who have lived outside of Calgary MUST obtain a PIC including Vulnerable Sector Check from RCMP or police agency in the jurisdiction where you lived, this must be submitted to us at the school.

New requests will be processed in October.

Transportation: Bus stops and routes will be posted in your MyCBE account when your registration has been completed.

If you have not yet registered for transportation, please sign into your MyCBE account to do so – it can take up to 6 weeks to process.

To find out if you child’s bus is delayed Southland Transportation use MyBusStop app http://www.mybusstop.ca/ - this provides real-time information on the location of a bus and any delays.  A new unique access code will be provided each new school year through your MyCBE account for registered students.

As part of back-to-school transportation planning, we encourage all families to have back-up plans in place in case of delayed or cancelled bus service during the school year. Families are responsible for the transportation of students to and from the bus stop and at the bus stop.

Student Lunches/Snacks: Please send your child with their lunch/snack/water bottle each day.  Please avoid dropping off lunches at the office – we are unable to interrupt teaching time to deliver forgotten lunches/snacks.

Woodbine is a “nut aware” school – we have one table in the gym which can be used by students who have brought a lunch which includes a peanut product.  This will mean they will have to eat their lunch at the “peanut” table and not with their friends at their regular designated table due to limited seating.

Student Medication: If you require medication to be stored at the school office, please complete the following forms and bring the forms and medication to the school office clearly marked with your child’s name.

Student Health Plan

Student Health Emergency Response Protocol  (required if medication is being held at school)

Medical forms are revised each school year.
