School Update:
Important Traffic Update for the Upcoming School Year: Along with the City of Calgary, we are excited to announce the implementation of a new passenger loading zone, otherwise called the “Hug and Go” Zone on Woodfield Way SW, located just north of the existing bus loading area. This zone will accommodate approximately 10 vehicles at a time, providing a convenient space for parents to safely drop off their children before continuing on their way. This initiative is designed to help alleviate traffic congestion and reduce parking challenges around the school. While the installation of signs is planned, the City of Calgary has yet to confirm the exact installation date.
The "Hug and Go" zone is intended for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only, with a maximum stop time of 3 minutes. Please note that parking is not permitted in this area during school hours. If you choose not to use the "Hug and Go" zone, we ask that you park on nearby streets that are non-zoned and unmarked for drop-off and pick-up. It is essential to follow all traffic signs and regulations to ensure the safety of our entire school community.
Safety remains our top priority. Until the “Hug and Go” zone is fully operational, we will have a staff member supervising the north crosswalks to ensure student safety. We kindly ask all parents and guardians to exercise caution when approaching the school. Please observe speed limits, parking rules, bus zones, crosswalks, and always respect our staff and students. Your cooperation is vital in creating a secure environment for our students.
Please remember that the staff parking lot is strictly off-limits for student drop-off or pick-up, including before and after school care. Your adherence to all signage and regulations helps maintain a safe and orderly environment around the school.Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.
Pride Week: The CBE prioritizes respect for diversity and creating welcoming, caring, respectful and safe inclusive environments for all students and families. Here at Woodbine School, we recognize a variety of events and celebrations throughout the year related to strengthening respect for and understanding of others, including, but not limited to, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Black History Month, Asian Heritage Month, Indigenous People’s Month, and Pride Month.
August 26-September 1 is Pride Week in Calgary, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. This year, CBE reaffirms their commitment as well as at Woodbine School, we remain committed to supporting all learners within our community, including 2LGBTQ+ students, by fostering a welcoming, caring, and respectful environment where everyone can be their authentic selves.
Lunch Supervision: Lunch Supervision is offered to all students in Grades 1- 6 for an annual fee. Students in these grades require direct supervision during the lunch hour, regardless of the grade configuration of the school or the mode of transportation the students use to get to and from school each day. If your child is requiring Lunch supervision, please register and pay using your MyCBE parent account. Fees will populate on October 16, 2024.
