School Update:
Hats on for Mental Health: On Wednesday, May 8 wear a special hat to school to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.
Spring Weather: Please ensure you are dressing your child for the weather. We will be going out rain, snow or shine for movement breaks and lunch recess. A spare set of clothing in your child's backpack is appreciated otherwise we will call asking if dry clothes can be dropped off for your child.
Fees: Our amazing field trips only work with the additional support from our families - please take a moment and check your MyCBE account – field trips fees are added as and when an event occurs – we appreciate you paying in advance of the event taking place.
Annual Consents: We have an amazing team of parent volunteers who are working hard on the 2023-24 Memory Book. We want to remind families that if you returned your Annual Authorization Form and indicated “NO” on the Consent for Use of Student Information – your child’s photograph will not appear in the Memory Book. Consent is optional, valid only for the current school year, and you may make a change to your form at any time. If you wish to amend your form please email woodbine@cbe.ab.ca and we will assign the form back to you in SchoolEngage for updating and return. We have a number of families whose forms remain outstanding since September 2023 – please log in to your MyCBE account and check that you have reviewed and submitted yours.
Food/Snacks: We are seeing an increasing amount of students who arrive at school with no lunch or snacks and coming to the office to ask for food. If your child is responsible for preparing their own lunch, please check in with them that they are doing so. We only have a small amount of emergency food available to offer students whose families are in need. If your child is requesting a lunch from the office we will email/call you so that you are aware.
Pub Night and Silent Auction: Woodbine School's playground has supported countless hours of play and exploration over the years. Unfortunately, the playground is showing its age and the Woodbine Parents Association and Playground Committee are working hard to ensure it will be a gathering place for the community for years to come.
We are kicking off our fundraising with a Pub Night and Silent Auction. We hope you will join us on May 25 at the Point Public House for a chance to socialize with friends, neighbours and fellow parents/guardians. Feel free to come by anytime between 3-8 pm. Tickets are $30/person and include a burger and beverage. A portion of each ticket will also go directly to funding the new playground.
Limited tickets available - get yours today! Thank you for your support!
