School Update:
Staffing: Mr. Webber's last day with us will be May 31, 2024, as he moves on to his new role as Principal at Cambrian Heights School. We wish him all the best in this exciting next chapter. In the interim, we are pleased to welcome Kris Reinhart, a retired Principal with extensive expertise, who will be supporting Woodbine as Acting Assistant Principal until Mrs. Fraser hires a new Assistant Principal for the fall. Additionally, we are delighted to have Mrs. Caroline Harper back to support the Kindergarten classroom for a few weeks. Please join us in wishing Mr. Webber success and in welcoming Mr. Reinhart and Mrs. Harper to our team.
Apply by June 16 for School Bus Transportation Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2024-25 school year. The deadline to register is Sunday, June 16 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. Follow the link for more information.
CBE offer a school bus orientation program for our youngest first-time riders and their parents called My 1st Ride. For more information click this link: Transportation Sessions are on May 25 and 26 but you must register in advance.
Students who are transitioning to use Calgary Transit to get to their Grade 7 school can also attend a free orientation session. The summer program called “My Transit Ride” is designed to increase a student’s comfort level and ability to ride Calgary Transit safely. For more information click this link: Transportation
Central Fee Waiver: the deadline to apply for a central fee waiver is June 30, 2024. Please click on the above link for information on eligibility and how to apply.
If you have already applied for a Central Fee Waiver for this school year and your application is pending, as there is further information you need to submit, the deadline for you to do this is June 30, 2024.
Fees: we encourage all parents and guardians to review your MyCBE account for outstanding fees. These are located under the Student Fees & Service Registration tab and include field trips, lunchroom, transportation and student supplies fee. Please check regularly as field trips are added as and when the event takes place. We have many field trips and in-school events that are overdue.
Have you moved?: If your family has changed address during the school year or, you are planning to move over the summer break, please ensure you have informed the school office so that we can ensure a smooth transition of student records to your child’s new school.
2024-25 Kindergarten Orientation Evening – June 6, 2024, 6:00 pm: we will be holding this event for new Kindergarten families who have students registered to attend Kindergarten in September 2024. In conjunction with our Kindergarten Open House, our Parent Association will be hosting “Picnic in the Park” from 5:30-7:30 pm with Food Trucks (proceeds going to our new playground).

Memory Book Orders – Order yours today!: Memory Book volunteers are working hard to make the yearbook for the 2023-24 school year. You can still buy yours at ybpay.ca. Simply enter code: 8893924
We are 64% of the way to our goal of 151 copies with 96 sold to date! The Memory Book will be in print only and is a wonderful opportunity to capture your child's school year. There will not be a digital or online resource.
Please help us to reach our goal – we have 55 orders to go! Orders are accepted until end of June.

Woodbine School's playground has supported countless hours of play and exploration over the years. Unfortunately the playground is showing its age and the Woodbine Parents Association and Playground Committee are working hard to ensure it will be a gathering place for the community for years to come. All funds raised through our Silent Auction will go directly towards the new playground.
The Silent Auction will conclude with our Pub Night on May 25 at the Point Public House - there will also be exclusive auction items featured at the pub night only. This is a great opportunity to socialize with friends, neighbours and fellow parents/guardians. Feel free to come by anytime between 3-8. Tickets are $30/person and include a burger, fries and beverage. All ticket proceeds will also go directly to funding the new playground.
