School Update:
Learning Celebrations: This week has been a whirlwind of excitement and growth as we celebrate the spirit of learning and the power of feedback. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our dedicated volunteers whose efforts made our Book Fair a resounding success. Witnessing the joy on our students' faces as they unearthed new literary treasures was truly a highlight. Moreover, we were honored to welcome our Area Education Director, who graciously took the time to delve into the rich tapestry of learning experiences and assessments within our school. Her acknowledgment of our commitment to visible learning and personalized student success tracking reaffirms our collective mission to nurture every learner's potential. As we gear up for our upcoming Staff Appreciation Week, anticipation fills the air for the exhilarating Amazing Race Challenge, a testament to the unwavering dedication of our exceptional teachers and support staff. Heartfelt thanks extend to the efforts of our parent volunteers who contributed and coordinated the week of recognition, starting Monday. We invite all members of our community to join us in expressing gratitude for the incredible contributions of our educators and support staff. Students also reveled in the excitement of the Mission Impossible obstacle course, led by Ms. Bignell. Here's to a week filled with learning, appreciation, and the boundless possibilities of growth ahead.
Outstanding School Fees: Student statements have been sent home to parents who have outstanding school fees. Field trips and school events which have already taken place are now overdue. Please pay online via your MyCBE account.
Scholastic Book Fair: Congratulations to the two students who won the Book Fair draw: Nellia from Division 1 and Alexa from Division 2. The Book Fair has been an incredibly busy place – thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help – we appreciate you. We will update you next week with the amount of Scholastic Dollars raised for our library.
Registration Open for School Bus Orientation Program: The CBE offers a school bus orientation program for first-time riders and their parents, called My 1st Ride. Please follow the above link should your family be interested in registering for one of the two sessions being offered.
Snacks: we are seeing an increase in the number of students requesting extra food Please ensure that you are providing enough snacks/food for your child each day.
2024-25 School Year: We are actively planning our school budget for the upcoming school year. If there has been any change from when you filled out your questionnaire in February and your child(ren) will not be attending our school in 2024-2025 can you please let us know as soon as possible by emailing woodbine@cbe.ab.ca or by calling the office at 403-777-8630. If you have notified us already about leaving Woodbine School there is NO NEED for further action. Having accurate enrolment projections helps us plan effectively. If your Grade 6 student is attending John Ware School – they will be automatically designated to that school for the fall. If your child will be remaining with us for the upcoming school year, there is no action you need to take. They will automatically be enrolled into their next grade.
Woodbine Parent Association Update:
Pub Night and Silent Auction: Woodbine School's playground, which sees countless hours of use by the community, needs your help. Years of active play have taken their toll, and we're aiming to replace the equipment with new, safe structures and a modernized rubber ground surface. We, the Woodbine School Parent's Association are passionate about creating a stimulating environment for our children and community.
To help achieve our fundraising goals, we are pleased to be hosting our First Annual Pub Night on May 25, 2024 at The Point Public House.
Come on out and support the Parent Association while enjoying some great food and a chance to mingle with other parents and community members. All proceeds will go towards our initiatives including the new playground. Please see the attached flyer for all the details.
Tickets are limited – click HERE to purchase!
In conjunction with the Pub Night, we will also be hosting a silent auction. We are currently seeking donations to help ensure a successful auction. If you are able to make a donation personally or through a business, please reach out to Christine and Janey at woodbinepa@gmail.com. Attached is a current list of donors who have already contributed.
We look forward to seeing you on May 25! Thank you for your support!
